Weekend trip to Yosemite in the Fall

Updated April 26th, 2022

If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, a trip to Yosemite National Park is the perfect getaway. And what better time to go than in the fall, when the leaves are changing color and the air is crisp and fresh. Here are some ideas of things to do during a two-day weekend trip to Yosemite.

On the first day, start off by exploring Yosemite Valley, which is home to some of the park's most iconic landmarks, like Half Dome and El Capitan. Take a hike on one of the many trails, go for a swim in one of the rivers or waterfalls, or just simply sit back and take in the stunning scenery. In the evening, head to Camp 4, one of the park's historic camping areas, for a traditional campfire dinner under the stars.

On the second day, get up early for a sunrise hike to Glacier Point, one of the best vantage points in the park with sweeping views of the valley below. After working up an appetite, head to the Ahwahnee Hotel for a leisurely brunch. Then spend the afternoon exploring Mariposa Grove, where you can see some of the oldest and biggest sequoia trees in Yosemite. End the day with a relaxing soak in one of the hot springs.

Whether you're looking to hike, sightsee, or just relax in nature, Yosemite National Park is the perfect place for a fall weekend getaway.
