Cuyahoga Valley is unusual among national parks: it sits between two cities, it is free to enter, and it is stitched together from land that was industrial and farmed rather than never developed.
The Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail runs the length of it — flat, well surfaced and popular with walkers and cyclists. The scenic railway runs alongside and will carry bicycles, which makes a one-way ride straightforward.
Brandywine Falls is the best known of the waterfalls and the busiest spot in the park. Because it is close to a large population, it is busiest at weekends; weekday mornings are notably quieter.
